Pakistani court frees three Iranian soldiers captured in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani court has released three Iranian security men from Western Balochistan, who were arrested earlier this month for entering into Pakistani territory of Balochistan and killing a man, said court officials. The three Iranian were taken into custody by Pakistani border security force Jan 1 after they crossed into the Balochistan province, Xinhua quoted officials as saying.  The Iranian nationals were, however, released by district judge Qazi Rashid Imrani in Washak area of Balochistan province Saturday.

As per local reporters, the freed soldiers were later handed over to Iranian border officials.  The judge released the three, after a reconciliation agreement was produced in the court on behalf of the Iranian security men and the victim’s father on the basis of blood money; paid by a killer as compensation to the next of kin of a murder victim.

The court, however, imposed a penalty of Rs. 9,000 (about $100) each on the three Iranians for illegally entering into Pakistani territory.
