QUETTA: The killing of Chechen nationals, recovery of mutilated bodies, target killings and kidnapping for ransom show there is no government in Balochistan, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawwar Hassan said at a press conference at the Bugti House Sunday. President JWP Talal Bugti was also present on the occasion.
Hassan said both the federal and provincial governments had completely failed to control the situation in Balochistan. “The fifth military operation is underway in the province and creating anger among the people,” he said. “The government should immediately stop operations and take steps for the recovery of missing persons and also stop target killings and other crimes. Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed mercilessly. His killers should be arrested and punished sternly.”
Munawwar said ministers of Balochistan were working only for personal gains and corruption instead of for the people’s welfare. He said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to play its role to improve the situation in the country, including in Balochistan. He said none of the PPP’s promises were ever fulfilled.
Speaking on the occasion Talal Bugti said no political leader really knew or cared about the situation in Balochistan. He said the FC had made the areas, particularly Dera Bugti, a “no go” zone. He warned of an Iraq or Afghanistan-like situation in Pakistan.
