Iran and Pakistan are to hold specialized exhibitions in both countries to expand two-way trade, said director general of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization. Hamid Safdel said that the exhibitions will be held in the Iranian city of Zahedan,Western-Baluchistan province, and in the Pakistani city of Karachi, IRNA reported. “Development of legal mechanism for the expansion of bilateral trade will curtail unofficial and illegal trade,” said Safdel. Commerce Ministry is seeking to prepare the ground for conducting legal border transactions to prevent the imports of sub-standard goods, he added.
Safdel referred to decentralization of different trade activities from Tehran and taking advantage of other provinces’ capacities as the organization’s latest approach. “Western-Baluchestan province is the major gateway for trade with Pakistan,” said the official, adding recently the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on holding joint exhibitions.
Pakistan-Iran exhibitions will be held in Zahedan and Karachi in late September and late November respectively, he added.
